Origin and evolution

We established operations in 2001, initially focused on architectural joinery for residential developments across Sydney. The workshop occupied a modest industrial unit in Marrickville, staffed by three craftsmen and one apprentice.

As demand expanded beyond joinery work, we acquired CNC machinery and moved to a larger facility in 2009. This transition enabled us to take on commercial projects while maintaining the hand-finishing standards that defined our early reputation.

Today we operate from a purpose-built manufacturing space spanning 2,400 square meters, equipped with both traditional woodworking tools and computer-controlled cutting systems.

Manufacturing approach

Each project passes through four distinct phases. Material selection happens first, with timber sourced from certified Australian suppliers and imported hardwoods when specific grain patterns or durability characteristics are required.

Design consultation follows, where we translate client requirements into technical drawings and material specifications. This stage determines joinery methods, surface treatments, and assembly sequences.

Production combines CNC precision for structural components with hand-shaping for profiles, edges, and decorative elements. Quality inspection occurs after cutting, during assembly, and before final finishing.

Installation teams handle delivery and placement, making on-site adjustments when necessary to accommodate architectural constraints or client requests.

Material sourcing

We maintain relationships with timber mills in Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia, securing supplies of blackwood, Tasmanian oak, jarrah, and spotted gum. Imported species include American walnut, European oak, and select Southeast Asian hardwoods sourced through certified sustainable forestry programs.

All timber undergoes moisture content testing before entering production. We maintain kiln-drying facilities to stabilize material that arrives outside acceptable tolerances.

Team structure

Our manufacturing staff includes eleven craftsmen, three CNC operators, two finishing specialists, and an installation crew of four. Design consultation and project management are handled by two staff members with backgrounds in industrial design and architecture.

We run an apprenticeship program in partnership with TAFE NSW, typically training two to three individuals at any given time.

Business model

Revenue is generated through direct manufacturing contracts with residential clients, commercial fit-out companies, architects, and interior designers. We operate on a project-by-project basis, with pricing determined by material costs, labor hours, and complexity of joinery requirements.

Payment structures typically involve a deposit upon design approval, a progress payment when production begins, and final settlement upon delivery. For commercial projects exceeding certain thresholds, we work with staged payment schedules aligned to project milestones.

We do not maintain retail premises or showrooms. Client consultations occur at our workshop facility or on-site at project locations.
